Cupcakes by Katie & Miss Katie's Tea Rooms hits the papers:

Saturday March 14th 2009, Evening Echo, Cork:

Amid the doom and gloom of the recession, a new business has opened it's doors in Blarney, offering customers a feast of truly tantalising treats.
Miss Katie's Tea Rooms are located in the heart of the tourist village and promise customers a delightful escape from the woeful news of the economy.

Owned by Kay Weldon, the tea rooms are located next to Malone's bar and are a reminder of a bygone time when an elegant afternoon tea featured prominently in society. Kay explained: "I was watching TV with my grand-daugher , when I got the idea for it. I travelled to tea rooms in Boston, Killarney and London and knew I wanted it to have an old-time feel to it. I've been catering for weddings and birthdays and have been extremely busy, and wanted to give people the chance to enjoy afternoon tea like that served in the Ritz - but for a fraction of the cost."

Named after her two-year-old grand-daughter, the tea rooms will be open on a daily basis and Kay is hoping to employ three or four people during the summer in the business.
"We plan on doing Beatrix Potter-themed events for kids aged seven to twelve and during the day we will be serving mini-cupcakes for €1, as well as cupcakes like those from Sex and the City."
"I hope it will be the first of many and look forward to providing a new service to customers in Blarney" she added.
